School has started. Today is the first official second day of school. (Tuesday and Wednesday both counted as first days because they were both all new classes.) Probably the most exciting thing about school finally starting was that it was so easy. Not that the school work, or the classes are going to be easy, but that it was so easy to slip back into school mode, school routine. I guess I never really realized how much I love my routine. It makes life simpler and easier to deal with, even when I have a hundred things to do and not much time to do them in.
I have spent much of the last two days updating my google calendar. Until now I have used a paper planner for my scheduling needs. However, over the break I noted that none other than my very own mother uses google calendar. I also know one or two other people who use google calendar. So I decided to give it a try. It's great! I mapped out my blocks of class time before coming back and have been adding other events as they come along. Probably my favorite feature is the "Task List". I put every single assignment (with it's due date) that is due all semester for all (well almost all) of my classes into my school task list. Now all I have to do to see what is due the next day is look at my calendar. There's a nice tidy to-do list at the top of each day.
Those to-do lists are quite daunting on some days. This semester is certainly going to be the hardest one yet as far as work load goes. I have a one page essay due every week in econ along with assigned problems, two assignments a week in stats, along with lots of reading in those classes. However, my heaviest reading class is World Lit 2 which is going to require at least an hour of reading a day. For this class I also have to attend ten cultural events. D&C and SFL 185 R (sewing) have less reading, but still quite a bit. I haven't been given my schedule for History yet, but I suspect that it to will be heavy on the reading. And I haven't even mentioned the periodic papers due, all of the midterms, and all of the sewing samples and projects.
I'll stop boring you with my crazy school schedule now and try to remember that I brought this upon myself. I really am still excited for this semestr to progress, and I am excited to find out what I can really do. My goal for this semester is to get A's in all of my classes. When I told Jared he said something to the effect of, "It's good to shoot high. You can do it." I responded (jokingly) "I'm not shooting high. If I were shooting high I'd be shooting for 100%." I was thinking about it this morning, and why not. I was once told to go into every test expecting to get 100%. Why not go into every class that way to? The difference is that when I was told to expect that on tests I hadn't figured out the trick yet. You can't just go in with a good attitude, you have to go in having done all of the necessary preparation. With classes you have to go in with the willingness to put in the time, work, and effort in to get 100% on every assignment.

I thought I'd tell you. I find your fish on the side of the screen somewhat fascinating. I don't know why. It's rather illogical.
Cheers,
Love, Carli
