Debt

When most people think "Debt" they think money. Student debt, credit card debt, mortgage debt, car loan debt, name a type of debt. Luckily I've never had any experience with those types of debt. I believe the best way to avoid something is to know what it looks like and stay away from it. I've been well educated about money debt, and have managed to avoid it so far. However, after recent life experiences I've discovered a new kind of debt; time debt.  Time debt happens when you say things like "I'll do that later," or "That can wait until tomorrow." Every time you do the amount of time it would have taken to do that task is added to your time debt balance because you will have to take that time to do the task later. Now I'm not saying that those statements are always bad. After all there are very few people who can just buy a house or car by writing out a check, and no one can do everything at once. The important thing is l...

Leap Day

So, I wanted to get one more post in during February, and I have one in the works, but I don't think I'm going to finish it today, so I'm writing a short note on Leap Day. I always know when it is a leap year because I was born on leap year so every time I have a birthday that is divisible by 4 it's a leap year. I also like leap day because it extends February one more day. However, I sincerely believe that it should be a school holiday, because after all it's only once every four years, and they don't really need another day in the school year... Truly a random post, but it allowed me to procrastinate my homework for another 5 minutes, so it was worth it.

Date

I'm taking a tap dance class this semester, and one of the requirements is to go to a tap dance concert, or at least a dance concert with one tap number. Sandra (my roommate who is also taking the class with me) got asked on a date to a dance concert that qualified, I decided to go to the same one, but I didn't want to go alone, so I asked Ryan (not my home teacher) to go with me. Ryan is a friend of mine, and Isaac's roommate. Isaac is Sandra's brother. He said yes, and so last night we went. It was really fun, although it took longer for Jordan to do my hair than I was expecting so I was a little late being ready. Luckily Ryan is a good friend of all our roommates and didn't mind waiting. The concert was wonderful! Some of the pieces were kind of weird (okay most of them were mostly weird), but we had three favorites. The first one we liked was a fun dance with two benches, and it was like a group of kids playing games, and messing around with these two benches. T...

Hmmm

I think I fell into the trap of most resolution makers (and food lovers) and had eyes bigger than my plate. I will definitely not be following through on all of my "resolutions" this year. However, there are a few that I will most definitely be continuing to work towards, and a couple that I still haven't broken yet. Luckily for me those go in order of importance. I have yet to miss a day of the new year reading my scriptures or writing in my journal, and I have plans in place to help me keep a budget and take vitamins. I also plan on trying to keep up with a few others, but those are the four most important ones. I'm glad I can say that at least I have my priorities straight at the top of the list. :)

Resolutions

I was just looking at the archive for my blog, and I realized that I've posted at least once every month ever since I started it. Some months are pretty sparse, ok ... most months are pretty sparse, but at least I haven't dropped off the map. Any way, on to the real point of the post... New Year's Resolutions. My resolutions this year are really more of a list of things I want/think I should do. I plan on refining them at some point, but with school starting on Wednesday, that might never happen. We'll see. Anyway, here's the list. Take a vitamin, calcium, and fiber every day Practice the Piano or exercize/play basketball every day Develop and stick to a budget Write in my Journal every day Read my scriptures every day Morning, evening, and apartment prayer every day Use cupons for Smiths card Write Janette and Chris every week Send thank you notes for Christmas presents Bake at least twice a month Get all of my stuff to my apartment Print and frame quot...

Completely Honest

To be completely honest, I've been having a hard week. I feel really silly saying that since I haven't been sick, I haven't had any classes (test week), and nothing bad has happened to me. It's just that lately I've been having a really hard time motivating myself, and that has been making me feel bad about myself. I have a hard time getting up in the mornings now, I have a hard time starting to study, and I have a hard time concentrating on my studies. I've just been having a hard time getting motivated/remembering to do all the things I'm supposed to do. For example: calling my boss to set up my schedule for this week, going to the temple, studying for my tests, taking my tests, eating broccoli, and a host of other little things that I can't think of right now. I really don't know what's come over me. I've had times like this before, but never this long or debilitating. I don't know what to do. I keep telling myself I need to just buck ...

Sick, Sick, Sick!

I've been sick for the better part of the week. You may or may not know that I rarely get sick, and when I do it's terrible. This time was no exception. But, I'll save you the whole sob story, and just share this. You know how people always ask "How are you?", but you know it's just a formality, and they don't really want to know how you're doing. Well, I've gotten that a lot since getting sick, and I've generally answered the requisite "Fine" or "Great" or "Good" although the strangely deep, gravelly tone of my voice should give away the fact that I'm not. What I've wanted to say is more along these lines... "My throat feels like it's full of sand or gravel or broken glass. My ears feel like I just went up in an airplane. I'm exhausted. I have to pee every twenty minutes because I'm drinking so much water. I wash my hands so often that they're raw. It looks like I'm wearing red g...

Pictures

I've started carrying my camera around with me all the time. I take pictures of things that make me laugh, things that inspire me, and things I think are pretty. I'd like to share a few pictures I've taken in the last week or so. My audit professor has a strange sense of humor. He puts up this kind of list pretty often while we do quizzes. Army Man! On a fire alarm in the Tanner building. Ok, so the picture he's comparing himself to doesn't really work, but don't you think he looks a little bit like Brad Pitt? I certainly did the first time I met him.

Still Alive

... Barely. I'm still alive and kicking, but I spend a LOT of time doing homework. In fact I spend so much time doing homework that it leaves little time for anything else including, dancing, hanging out with roommates, reading, watching movies, or writing on my blog. I'll try to tell more about my crazy wonderful life later. Maybe... when I have more time. Sorry...

Home!

Well, not quite yet, but sooner than I thought originally. I just though I'd let everybody know that I've decided to come home a week early. Instead of coming home on the 24th I'll be coming home on the 17th. This means I get to go home for a couple of days and see my family, attend my mom's sisters reunion (for the first time!), and not be as stressed out as I prepare to start school again on the 29th. I'm sad to be leaving Belize, but I'm also really excited to be home in Idaho and in Provo. I'm also very excited to be starting school again. I got into the accounting program at BYU, and I'll be starting the Junior core this fall. It's going to be a lot of work, but worth every minute.
