June 3 (Espanol/English)

Buenos Dias!

Tuesday was a great day! We had an appointment with a potential named Ana and her husband named Baldo. They are great people, and very prepared for our message. Ana especially had great questions for us and said that she is searching for the true church, but hasn't felt good in any of the churches they've visited. They promised to read the introduction to the Book of Mormon, and we have an appointment with them tomorrow. I am very excited to see how their reading went, and teach them a little more of the gospel and invite them again to come to church with us to see if they feel better there.

Wednesday we also had some appointments with great people. Natalia and her daughter Belen (that means Bethlehem in English) are very friendly, and Belen had great questions like, "Who is Joseph Smith?" We love to answer this type of questions because they show that they already have interest in the answers. We also had an appointment with Blanca. She is also very prepared for the gospel and already has a beautiful relationship with God.

Thursday was a day of planning, and it helped us to have really good plans for this week. Friday was district meeting and Elder Winward did a training on how to study for our investigators. We also had dinner with the DeLeon family. They're members of our ward, and I love them a lot!

Saturday we spent a lot of our time finding. We visited some potentials, and knocked doors on a couple of streets that we'd chosen during weekly planning the week before. We talked to two men who were drunk and told them that they needed to repent and stop drinking and that the gospel of Christ could help them. One of them accepted a Book of Mormon after I reminded him that he could read it later (when he wasn't drunk). This was a revelation for him and a funny thing for me. Also, that afternoon we talked with the Relief Society president, and the visit was really good.

Sunday we had church, and it was very exciting because Andy (a recent convert and less active) came to sacrament meeting! This is a miracle for us. Also one of the investigators of the Pacoima Elder's came to church as well, and we got the chance to get to know her better. She is very kind, very prepared, and the Spirit is very strong in her soul. That night we had three baptisms (two members who are 8 and one investigator.) The service was beautiful, and Hermana Whetten and I sang a hymn for the missionary minute while they were changing their clothes.

I think it's much easier to remember and tell these stories in Spanish, but it takes a lot longer because I have to translate them to. Maybe I'll do this sometimes, but I definitely can't do it every week. Also, I'm not sure that I spelled all the words in Spanish correctly, and my grammar is not perfect. But that's okay because I'm still learning. :) I love you lots and have a hope that you have a great week!

Birthday!

So, my birthday was yesterday, and it was quite possibly the best birthday ever , and definitely the BEST day of this semester!  It actually started the night before (the night of the 17th) when Janette came to dinner. We made pizza, Isaac brought cinnamon rolls, and we had several people over. I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST   roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...

Going Public

So I was thinking today about how I love to keep up with my friends and family through their blogs. I'm pretty busy with school, so I really don't have time to call everyone who is important to me and talk about their lives. Instead I read their blogs. I write my blog for much the same reason, so that people who care about me can read about my life on their own time. Ever since I started my blog I've had it privatized so that only people who I invite can read my blog. However, as I have made more friends, I've had multiple people be surprised that I have a blog at all, and some have asked to read it. I've always been hesitant to let people read my blog because I don't want to inadvertently offend someone or accidentally share something I'd rather keep private with the whole world. I realized today that that is really silly considering the purpose of my blog, and so I've decided to publicize my blog. I realize that I write about other people on my blog, a...

Hi There

So Caitlin's blog has gotten me thinking. I'm not as creative of a writer, and I'm definitely not a paint artist, but I am away at college and not in as direct contact with my family and friends. I would like to be able to share my life and ideas with those that I love. I can't promise to post every day, or even every week, but I will try. I hope you all enjoy.
