I just watched a movie called "It's Kind of a Funny Story." It's about this kid who is clinically depressed, but instead of committing suicide one Sunday morning he checks himself into the hospital. They put him in the adult psychiatry ward because the youth ward is undergoing renovations. He's there for five days, and meets a lot of people. While he's there he makes special friends with a guy named Bob, and another 16 year old named Noelle. He also gets to know a lot of the other patients, and helps several of them improve. The most important thing that happens while he's there is that he learns. He learns a lot about himself, and what he wants to do and be. He also learns about life. My favorite quote from the movie is actually quoting a Bob Dylan song. “He who is not busy being born is busy dying.” I really like this quote in a lot of ways. There's the obvious fact that this is the best way to live, but there's more to it as well. It obviously wasn't meant in any kind of a religious sense, but I feel like it can also be seen in a gospel oriented way. In Sunday school they always teach that if your testimony isn't growing, then it's shrinking. You always have to nurture it. I think that most things in life are that way. If you aren't improving and growing then you're diminishing and regressing. Life will go on no matter what happens. It's just a question of whether you go with it.

I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...
