Hello,

You might not think "Hello" is Spanish, but you'd be amazed by how many Hispanics (who only speak Spanish) answer the phone by saying Hello. I'm sorry it'll be a short email this week; I just had other things I needed to do, so I don't have time for a long one.

Monday Miracle: A couple of weeks ago we were contacting a few people right before we went home for the night, and it turned out that one of them was a menos activa who had moved here and stopped going to church about 6 months ago. That in and of itself was a miracle because her records are not in our ward, so there's no other way we would have found her. (It really is true when they say that the FBI can't even find these people, but the Mormon missionaries can. :) The miracle on Monday was that we called to invite her to a ward Noche de Hogar (FHE), and not only did she say she would come that night, but she actually did, and had a really good time and was even able to make some friends in the ward.

Tuesday Miracle: Interviews with President. Nuff said. :) It was also great to be able to do practices with the Assistants, and with our Zone Leaders while we waited. They are so good at sharing their experience with us, and answering the 100's of questions I have as a basically new missionary training new missionaries.

Wednesday Miracle: We met with one of our investigators named C. We taught the Plan of Salvation and were able to set a baptismal date with him! He is reading so much, and praying, and really progressing in the gospel. We had a member with us, and he was able to share such a powerful testimony about the Atonement. I love when investigators start to understand the atonement, and you can see their eyes light up at the idea that they can repent, be forgiven, and return to live with God again.

Thursday Miracle: To understand this one you need a little background on our area. Our entire area is on a slight hill. It's one of those hills where most of the time you look at the road and you wouldn't think it was a hill, but then you start up or down it on your bike and realize that it definitely is. We live in an apartment near the top of our area. We have several investigators who live at the bottom of our area. On a normal day we go back and forth 2-3 times every day. Thursday, we only had to go up the hill from the bottom of our area to the top once. Plus we were on time for correlation at the church, which is even further up the hill than our apartment.

Friday Miracle: We were able to meet with a menos activo, and also start teaching his son-in-law and he became a new investigator. I love finding new people to teach when we didn't think we were going to. That was a special miracle because we'd set a goal to find 2 new investigators that day, and had only found one when we had to go to our last two appointments which we thought had no potential for new investigators. I love seeing God's hand helping us meet our goals!

Saturday Miracle: We had a great lesson with R- and found out that she is reading like crazy even though she never went to school and doesn't read very well. I love seeing those blessings of the Book of Mormon in people’s lives!

Sunday Miracle: We had an investigator who we hadn't been able to contact for almost 3 weeks show up at church, sit with a member, and then leave all without even talking to us. Hopefully now we'll be able to contact and teach her!

That's all I've got for time! Love you all!

Birthday!

So, my birthday was yesterday, and it was quite possibly the best birthday ever , and definitely the BEST day of this semester!  It actually started the night before (the night of the 17th) when Janette came to dinner. We made pizza, Isaac brought cinnamon rolls, and we had several people over. I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST   roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...

Going Public

So I was thinking today about how I love to keep up with my friends and family through their blogs. I'm pretty busy with school, so I really don't have time to call everyone who is important to me and talk about their lives. Instead I read their blogs. I write my blog for much the same reason, so that people who care about me can read about my life on their own time. Ever since I started my blog I've had it privatized so that only people who I invite can read my blog. However, as I have made more friends, I've had multiple people be surprised that I have a blog at all, and some have asked to read it. I've always been hesitant to let people read my blog because I don't want to inadvertently offend someone or accidentally share something I'd rather keep private with the whole world. I realized today that that is really silly considering the purpose of my blog, and so I've decided to publicize my blog. I realize that I write about other people on my blog, a...

Hi There

So Caitlin's blog has gotten me thinking. I'm not as creative of a writer, and I'm definitely not a paint artist, but I am away at college and not in as direct contact with my family and friends. I would like to be able to share my life and ideas with those that I love. I can't promise to post every day, or even every week, but I will try. I hope you all enjoy.
