Hola!

So the title has nothing to do with my email, there are just a ton of ants all over the desk I'm sitting at in the library so I thought I'd mention that.

Monday ... I don't actually remember what we did on Monday. It seems like that was a lot more than a week ago. Oh! Actually I do remember! That was the day we went back at the end of preperation day to fix my tire, and when we started to inflate the new tube it literally exploded! It went from brand new tube to having a 10 inch slit in it with one loud bang. It was mostly upsetting becuase we had an appointment with Jorge and Cinthya in 15 minutes, and they live at the bottom of our area. Luckily the Hnas were able to take us down there, and then come pick us up after that appointment and some contacting so that we could make it to our 8:00 appointment at the top of our area. It was a really bad day to have to live without bikes, but the Hnas saved us!

Tuesday we had district meeting, and then afterwards we had a companionship study with the Zone leaders. They helped us practice how we can better help our investigators understand the importance of the commitments we give them, and why they really need to keep them.

Wednesday we had a good day with lots of appintments, and only one or two of them fell through. The best part of the whole day was when we met with our investigator Beatrice, and she commited to being baptized. She had told us before that she didn't want to come to church, but when we told her she'd have to come to church to be baptized she promised to come every Sunday! It really was a miracle, and a giant testimony to me of the power of the gospel to change hearts and lives.

Thursday was weekly planning, and then we had an appointment with Jorge and Cinthya which went really well. Originally we'd been planning on teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but as we started, it seemed to flow better into the Word of Wisdom, so we ended up teaching that instead. It was good becuase Jorge didn't have any problems with it, but Cinthya, who ocassionally does drink coffee or alcohol, commited to keep the Word of Wisdom to see if it really is a commandment of God. Then we went to teach Claudio the same thing, but he ended up basically teaching himself, and committing to keep the word of wisdom as well. He really wants to be baptized, and he is so committed to doing anything he has to to make that covenant with God!

Friday we did a lot of riding from one corner of our area to the other. I also had the wonderful opportuntiy to get another flat tire. Luckily we had a patch kit with us and a few minutes, so I just sat down on the sidewalk, and patched it right there. We had a dinner with the Donis family (Hna Donis is an AMAZING member in our ward), then we went for an appointment with a menos activo named Jesus, but ended up bumping into one of our investigators who'd been having some problems lately and really, really needed to talk so we called him up to change it, and just talked to her for the rest of the night.

Saturday was a day of extremes. We went from a really good appointment with George where we taught the Plan of Salvation, and he actually understood it to a lesson with the Escobars who decided not to continue listening to our message, to a lesson with Pepe and his son who asked us how they could feel the spirit they were feeling all the time!

Sunday was kind of sad becuase no one came to church, but we had some great studies, and were able to meet with a potential named Raul who became a new investigator, and committed to read the Book of Mormon and pray about whether it is true! I love it when people take us up on our promises and decide to find out for themselves if the Book of Mormon is true! We know the blessings that will come of it, and all we want to do is share those blessings with all the people we meet.

I know that the gospel is true, and that it blesses my life on a daily basis. I know that Christ is my savior, not just in the end, but every day with my individual, daily problems. I know that this work is the work of God and that this is where I'm meant to be. I love you all, and hope that you recognize the blessings that God sends to you every day of your lives.

Love,

Guess who I am! (Yup, I'm Charlie, but only for about 10 hours, then it's pretty flat again.)
We took a district (plus zone leaders) picture when we went bowling last monday, but I was too slow for my own timer so I'm not even in the picture...

Birthday!

So, my birthday was yesterday, and it was quite possibly the best birthday ever , and definitely the BEST day of this semester!  It actually started the night before (the night of the 17th) when Janette came to dinner. We made pizza, Isaac brought cinnamon rolls, and we had several people over. I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST   roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...

Going Public

So I was thinking today about how I love to keep up with my friends and family through their blogs. I'm pretty busy with school, so I really don't have time to call everyone who is important to me and talk about their lives. Instead I read their blogs. I write my blog for much the same reason, so that people who care about me can read about my life on their own time. Ever since I started my blog I've had it privatized so that only people who I invite can read my blog. However, as I have made more friends, I've had multiple people be surprised that I have a blog at all, and some have asked to read it. I've always been hesitant to let people read my blog because I don't want to inadvertently offend someone or accidentally share something I'd rather keep private with the whole world. I realized today that that is really silly considering the purpose of my blog, and so I've decided to publicize my blog. I realize that I write about other people on my blog, a...

Hi There

So Caitlin's blog has gotten me thinking. I'm not as creative of a writer, and I'm definitely not a paint artist, but I am away at college and not in as direct contact with my family and friends. I would like to be able to share my life and ideas with those that I love. I can't promise to post every day, or even every week, but I will try. I hope you all enjoy.
