Hey everybody!
We're doing emails today because
Monday was Memorial Day so the library was closed, and Tuesday the computers
were all full when we had time to come before our appointments (one of which
was absolutely amazing by the way, but you'll have to wait for that story).
I realized something last week that
is the reason for my title; I was made to be a missionary. We had interviews
with President Hall last Wednesday, and talking with him made it finally click
in my mind that I fit better being a missionary than I ever have before in
anything I've ever done. I feel more comfortable, and more at home doing
missionary work, and living missionary life than any other time in my life.
It's absolutely AMAZING!!! I love being a missionary! I've only been out for
3.5 months or so, and I already don't feel like a new missionary any more.
This is life! This is what I was meant (made) to do! And to think that I almost
didn't go on a mission at all. Boy am I glad that God knows me better than I
know myself. I can't even imagine if I would have missed out on this
experience!
Last week was still a week of
challenges. We had a couple of investigators who decided to stop taking the
lessons from us. It was so sad because we know that the gospel will bless their
lives more than anything else (not to mention provide the way to obtain salvation),
and we try to teach them that, but sometimes they still don't want to listen. I
really do grow to love these people so quickly, and want them to be happy so
when they choose not to listen it's really sad for me. However, I know that
they are never lost to God, and He will always continue to provide more
opportunities for them to hear the gospel.
Just a few stories from last week:
Saturday we went to the papusaria as
a district for lunch, and it was so good. The company was good, but the food is
the best. (Yes it's me saying that.) If you've never heard of papusa's
you're missing out. They're a food from El Salvador, and their kind of like a
cheese tortilla. I'll have to learn how to make them while I'm here, and when I
get home I'll make them for you all! (I always eat the plain cheese ones, but
the elder's tell me that the ones with beans and other stuff in them are really
good to.)
Sunday, Hna Whetten got really sick,
so we didn't get to go to church or the baptism, but Elder Winward (our
district leader), his companion Elder Bowman, and Hno Gayton (the elder's
quorum president) came and gave her a blessing, and they showed us pictures
from the baptism. (It was one of the investigators of the San Fernando elders,
but Hna Whetten and I really love their family!)
Monday Hna Whetten was still a
little sick, but we did manage to do laundry and shopping, and we got to go to
Office Depot. I love all things office supply, so I was in heaven. I got a
binder and some page protectors so that I can actually see all the lovely
letters and pictures you send to me. Elder Winward got Hna Whetten Sprite to
help her stomach, and Elder Linford (he's in the San Fernando area) made
Hna Whetten Jello since she was sick. The elder's really do take such good care
of us Hermana's.
This week is already looking so
promising with our investigators, and we've already seen several miracles, but
if I tell you all of them now I won't have anything to write in next week's
email so you'll just have to wait.
I Love You All
Hermana Hardy
