Dec 16

So I knew I was forgetting something this morning as we left the apartment, and it was my journal... My memory has completely disappeared as a missionary, so this email might be somewhat scattered/short. (Please be Christlike and forgive me.) I think it's the time warp thing that does it. I know it's only been a week since I last emailed, but it feels like it's been more like a month! I will, however, attach a couple of pictures. One is from Zone conference. (Yay for Burbank zone!) The other is Hna Clifton and me

on our exchange. We got to be together again on our 10 month mark as missionaries. It was fun to be able to celebrate the 10 month anniversary of the first day we met by being companions again for one more day.

This week was definitely packed with things to do. Monday was crazy with shopping, and having the Hnas in our zone over to chat and make cookies. Then on Tuesday morning we started our first exchange of the transfer. I got to go to Van Nuys, and it was really so much fun! We did lots of good missionary work, and at the end I was happy that my first exchange from the other side went pretty well. We switched back companions Wednesday morning at Zone conference. Then Zone Conference was AMAZING!!! We talked a lot about being on Purpose and finding a lot, and it was so good to be inspired by President and Sister Hall.

Thursday we finally got some time to work in our area, and were able to do weekly planning. We also borrowed Elder Bowman's bike so that we could use bikes sometimes, but we couldn't figure out how to put the wheels back on after we got it back to our apartment. Then on Friday after studies we started another exchange. (This was the one with Hna Clifton.) I was in the other area again, and it was fun to kind of get to know another area, and to be able to work with other investigators and members.

Saturday we finished the exchange and had cleaning checks from the Zone Leaders. Well... they stood outside, and we checked our apartment for cleanliness. :) They also put the wheels back on Elder Bowman's bike for us so that we could use the bikes that night. It was SO AMAZING to be back on bike for a while! I think we're going to try using the bikes a lot more even though our area is huge. Then Saturday night our ward mission leader called because the bishopric needed another speaker for the next day, so Sunday I got to give a talk in sacrament meeting. (My first ever in Spanish!) It was actually not that bad because we had 4 confirmations (a family that got baptized last Sunday) so that took up a lot of time and I only had to speak for about 5 minutes.

I love being a missionary!!! We get to go to the temple tomorrow, and then we have two more exchanges this week, and I am just so excited to be uplifted and get to learn from the other Hermanas. This is going to be great!

Love,

Hna Marin Hardy

Birthday!

So, my birthday was yesterday, and it was quite possibly the best birthday ever , and definitely the BEST day of this semester!  It actually started the night before (the night of the 17th) when Janette came to dinner. We made pizza, Isaac brought cinnamon rolls, and we had several people over. I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST   roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...

Going Public

So I was thinking today about how I love to keep up with my friends and family through their blogs. I'm pretty busy with school, so I really don't have time to call everyone who is important to me and talk about their lives. Instead I read their blogs. I write my blog for much the same reason, so that people who care about me can read about my life on their own time. Ever since I started my blog I've had it privatized so that only people who I invite can read my blog. However, as I have made more friends, I've had multiple people be surprised that I have a blog at all, and some have asked to read it. I've always been hesitant to let people read my blog because I don't want to inadvertently offend someone or accidentally share something I'd rather keep private with the whole world. I realized today that that is really silly considering the purpose of my blog, and so I've decided to publicize my blog. I realize that I write about other people on my blog, a...

Hi There

So Caitlin's blog has gotten me thinking. I'm not as creative of a writer, and I'm definitely not a paint artist, but I am away at college and not in as direct contact with my family and friends. I would like to be able to share my life and ideas with those that I love. I can't promise to post every day, or even every week, but I will try. I hope you all enjoy.
