Buenos Dias!

Ok... enough with the Spanish. :) I'm not willing to actually translate the whole thing, and it's still faster for me to write in English usually.

Monday was good, but it already feels like it was so far away. Hna Anderson and I ran around like crazy people getting everything done. I managed to get everything packed into my suitcases, it's amazing how much stuff you can accumulate in two transfers! I was proud of myself however, because I also fit my pillow and my emergency bag (basically a first aid kit and 24 hours worth of food and water) inside my suitcases as well. That evening we were able to see H and A so that I could say goodbye to them. We took a picture so I'll include that as well.

Tuesday was transfer meeting, and that was so good. I am now situated in North Hollywood 5to (Quinto) with Hna Barnes as my new companion. We were in the same district in the MTC so it is fun that we get to be companions now. :) Other great news is that Elder Linford is now one of the Zone Leaders in El Camino (so I know he'll take good care of my old district) and Elder Bowman is now my zone leader!!!! It's so fun to be in the same district again, and to get to work together so much. I will also attach proof that you can get a bike home from transfers without a bike rack if you're good enough at puzzles. :)

Wednesday we had Mission Leadership Council which is an all day meeting each month where all of the Zone Leaders and Sister/Hna Training Leaders get together with President Hall and the assistants and have a training/council discussion. Basically he trains us on what he wants us to teach in Zone Training Meeting that Friday. It was such an amazing experience for me. The disadvantage is that it doesn't leave us very much time to work in our area... :) We got home just in time to eat with a member, read the Book of Mormon with a less active member for a few minutes, and head to Correlation. However, we still managed to contact several people on our way to each of those things.

Thursday was a great day for me because I felt like I learned SO much during my studies. My three hours of studies... YES no more 12 Weeks. I loved the 12 week program, but it is SO nice to not have to do four hours of studies every day for the first time in my mission. After studies we had an appointment that turned into just a little bit of contacting time because our investigator wouldn't answer the door. Then we came home for weekly planning and dinner with just enough time to get a car wash before the ward Noche de Hogar. Wheew! The week's not over yet.

Friday we had Zone Training Meeting. We talked a lot about how we need to be always working towards our purpose of baptism and how we can do that through finding more. Hna Barnes and I got to do part of the training, and I really think that it went well. I think that at least the Hermanas were inspired, and I certainly left with more ideas of how we can use our time more wisely to be able to find more. On the way home I missed our street and had to turn around in a parking lot, and somehow I ran over a giant nail that got stuck in our tire. That really put a dent in the rest of our day since we had to go get that fixed before we could do studies. However, after dinner we were able to go out and contact a lot as well as try by our appointment. He wasn't home, but we were able to contact one of our potentials and teach her with our member. It was such a good lesson, and the member helped so much. He's a recently returned missionary, and he really helped us apply the lesson specifically to her life.

Saturday we had more of a normal day with studies and a couple of citas as well as lots of contacting time. We were also able to do a finding activity with one of the companionships in our stewardship, and it was so cool to work with them and see such miracles come as we focused on teaching when we find so that people go straight from contact to new investigator. The most exciting thing that night happened as I was parking so we could go to one of our citas. As I pulled up to the curb the car bumped like I had somehow run over the curb. I was a little bit worried at first, but when we all got out I was plenty far away from the curb. Then we looked a little closer and saw milk splattered all over the side of our car and the sidewalk, and a crushed gallon milk jug underneath our car. Someone apparently left a full gallon of milk siting on the street, and I ran over it! So much for our car wash before Zone Conference on Wednesday. :)

Sunday was also a good, but crazy day. We did studies then church, then a baptism for a whole family of 4! Then we ran to an appointment that fell through, back to the apartment for Language study and dinner, and then off to the first presidency Christmas devotional. That was great because I got to see so many people I love, bust also the talks were AMAZING!!! The spirit of Christmas really is the spirit of missionary work! I am so grateful to be a missionary during this Christmas season and be able to share Christ's birth, and why it is SO important with so many people. Also, I found out that R

moved her baptismal date up. She's getting baptized NEXT SUNDAY!!!!!!! AHHH I'm so happy!!!

I love you all, and hope that you can catch the true spirit of Christ(mas) this season!

Love,

Hna Marin Hardy

Birthday!

So, my birthday was yesterday, and it was quite possibly the best birthday ever , and definitely the BEST day of this semester!  It actually started the night before (the night of the 17th) when Janette came to dinner. We made pizza, Isaac brought cinnamon rolls, and we had several people over. I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST   roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...

Going Public

So I was thinking today about how I love to keep up with my friends and family through their blogs. I'm pretty busy with school, so I really don't have time to call everyone who is important to me and talk about their lives. Instead I read their blogs. I write my blog for much the same reason, so that people who care about me can read about my life on their own time. Ever since I started my blog I've had it privatized so that only people who I invite can read my blog. However, as I have made more friends, I've had multiple people be surprised that I have a blog at all, and some have asked to read it. I've always been hesitant to let people read my blog because I don't want to inadvertently offend someone or accidentally share something I'd rather keep private with the whole world. I realized today that that is really silly considering the purpose of my blog, and so I've decided to publicize my blog. I realize that I write about other people on my blog, a...

Hi There

So Caitlin's blog has gotten me thinking. I'm not as creative of a writer, and I'm definitely not a paint artist, but I am away at college and not in as direct contact with my family and friends. I would like to be able to share my life and ideas with those that I love. I can't promise to post every day, or even every week, but I will try. I hope you all enjoy.
