Hola, Hola, Coca Cola!

That's Hna Barnes' favorite greating. :) Not much happened this week to write about. On Monday we played soccer with our district, and it was SO much fun! I was sore for three days after though. I am so out of shape from not being on bike for so long.

Tuesday morning we were able to go to the temple. It was so amazing to be able to go and do a session and spend some time in the temple and just feel a little bit closer to God. I am so grateful that He has provided us this way to feel close to Him. Wednesday and Thursday were normal work days with nothing special happening, and we finished Weekly Planning in 1 day! Somehow our Thursdays always seem to fill up with citas so that weekly planning always bleeds over into other days.

Friday we had ZONE CONFERENCE!!! It was absolutely amazing, and I learned so much. We talked a lot about teaching simply and how important that is. The Spirit speaks so much better when we teach simply. People understand more and thus are more receptive to those sublte promptings of the Spirit that what they are hearing is true. We also talked about how we can work on teaching more simply including using shorter statements, teaching more from the scriptures, and getting rid of gimmics. :) I'm not sure what any of you have heard about being used by missionaries, but President Hall's favorite example is the 'flaming teabag'. I have no idea how to do that one, but some other examples are broken mirrors for the restoration, two nails in a piece of wood keeping it from spinning, etc. Elder Ballard did a training with a bunch of mission presidents and said that we need to do away with all teaching gimmics. :) It's my favorite part of any meeting with President Hall when he says "I got a letter from Elder Ballard!" He's still excited about it, and we are really striving to put his teachings into practice.

Saturday and Sunday were also mostly just normal work days. None of our actual investigators came to church including E who will now need to change his baptismal date, but one of our potentials named O did come, and we were able to teach him after sacrament meeting before he had to go. We are so excited to be teaching him because he was the one who called us and asked to come to church! I truly love finding people who have that real intent to learn the truth.

All in all it's been a pretty good week. We have Mission Leadership Council and then Zone Training Meeting this week and I'm so excited! I love you all!

Love,

Hna Marin Hardy

I saw a car with an Idaho license plate at the temple on Tuesday. Long drive!

Birthday!

So, my birthday was yesterday, and it was quite possibly the best birthday ever , and definitely the BEST day of this semester!  It actually started the night before (the night of the 17th) when Janette came to dinner. We made pizza, Isaac brought cinnamon rolls, and we had several people over. I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST   roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...

Going Public

So I was thinking today about how I love to keep up with my friends and family through their blogs. I'm pretty busy with school, so I really don't have time to call everyone who is important to me and talk about their lives. Instead I read their blogs. I write my blog for much the same reason, so that people who care about me can read about my life on their own time. Ever since I started my blog I've had it privatized so that only people who I invite can read my blog. However, as I have made more friends, I've had multiple people be surprised that I have a blog at all, and some have asked to read it. I've always been hesitant to let people read my blog because I don't want to inadvertently offend someone or accidentally share something I'd rather keep private with the whole world. I realized today that that is really silly considering the purpose of my blog, and so I've decided to publicize my blog. I realize that I write about other people on my blog, a...

Hi There

So Caitlin's blog has gotten me thinking. I'm not as creative of a writer, and I'm definitely not a paint artist, but I am away at college and not in as direct contact with my family and friends. I would like to be able to share my life and ideas with those that I love. I can't promise to post every day, or even every week, but I will try. I hope you all enjoy.
