Not much this week, but I promise to be better next week Here's one story to hold you over.

The best thing that happened this week is that one of our less active families came to church this Sunday, and liked it so much they promised to come again next Sunday! They had been going to church in LA, but when they moved they stopped coming to church because they didn't know where it was, and sometimes they had to work, and they were tired... All the usual excuses. We found them a couple of weeks ago though, and have visited them a few times and talked with them. Then yesterday morning we knocked on their door and asked them to come to church with us, AND THEY DID!!!!!!!! Unfortunately they couldn't stay for sacrament meeting (sacrament last is the WORST!) this week, but they promised to stay for all three hours next week. Luckily they missed my impromptu talk. :) The branch mission leader called that morning and asked me to bear my testimony in sacrament meeting and of course I agreed since a testimony is no big deal. Unfortunately it turned out that there was only one other speaker, and when he was done we still had 25 minutes of sacrament meeting left... We sang a far too short intermediary hymn, and then it was my turn. I introduced myself, joked that Hno Wilson should have talked for 10 more minutes and then tried to make a coherent statement of why I came on a mission. I shared a couple of scriptures and my testimony and encouraged the members to do missionary work. Then I turned around and asked President Mendez (our branch president) if I could stop of if he wanted me to keep going. Luckily he was fine with me stopping so we just ended up finishing sacrament meeting 10 minutes early. :)

Love,

Hna Marin Hardy

Birthday!

So, my birthday was yesterday, and it was quite possibly the best birthday ever , and definitely the BEST day of this semester!  It actually started the night before (the night of the 17th) when Janette came to dinner. We made pizza, Isaac brought cinnamon rolls, and we had several people over. I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST   roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...

Going Public

So I was thinking today about how I love to keep up with my friends and family through their blogs. I'm pretty busy with school, so I really don't have time to call everyone who is important to me and talk about their lives. Instead I read their blogs. I write my blog for much the same reason, so that people who care about me can read about my life on their own time. Ever since I started my blog I've had it privatized so that only people who I invite can read my blog. However, as I have made more friends, I've had multiple people be surprised that I have a blog at all, and some have asked to read it. I've always been hesitant to let people read my blog because I don't want to inadvertently offend someone or accidentally share something I'd rather keep private with the whole world. I realized today that that is really silly considering the purpose of my blog, and so I've decided to publicize my blog. I realize that I write about other people on my blog, a...

Hi There

So Caitlin's blog has gotten me thinking. I'm not as creative of a writer, and I'm definitely not a paint artist, but I am away at college and not in as direct contact with my family and friends. I would like to be able to share my life and ideas with those that I love. I can't promise to post every day, or even every week, but I will try. I hope you all enjoy.
