Buenas Tardes,

(Translation) I don't have very much time today, but I wanted to tell you a few things. This week we had a entire mission conference. Elder Kent F Richards of the seventy came along with Elder Garnes, our area seventy. Elder Richards spoke about a lot of things and I learned SO MUCH that I want to put in practice in our area and in my teaching.

I loved that two of the main things he mentioned were boldness and daily follow up with each of your investigators. I have been thinking SO much about both of those things for the last transfer, and both have been things that consistently pop into my mind throughout my mission. Hna Ellingson and I have been trying to contact all of our investigators every day for a couple of weeks now, and so it was a good validation to know that we're supposed to do that. Boldness is something that I've always been working on, and a week or so ago I realized that for me the definition of boldness is really more about being direct than about being loud or forceful. To be direct you don't beat around the bush, you just state things how they are or ask the right question without being afraid of the answers/responses of the investigators.

I also just wanted to take a moment and encourage all of you to visit the page www.mormon.org/BecauseofHim. It talks about what is possible because of Jesus Christ and we're all being encouraged to view and share what is possible in our lives because of Jesus Christ. I love this thought because throughout my life, and especially on my mission I've come to learn more and more how much I depend on Jesus Christ. There is so much of me and of my life that is only possible Because of Him. Really, whether we recognize it or not, we all depend on Him for everything. Everything that we are able to become or do is Because of Him. I am slowly learning to rely on His atonement and His grace consciously instead of unconsciously and finding the additional strength that comes from that. I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ and for his atoning sacrifice for me. I know that He lived, that He died, and that He was resurrected and lives again. I know that He loves me and that through Him all things are possible. It really is Because of Him that we can have this hope.

I love you all and hope that you can renew, strengthen, and then draw comfort and strength from your faith in Jesus Christ.

Love,

Hna Marin Hardy

Birthday!

So, my birthday was yesterday, and it was quite possibly the best birthday ever , and definitely the BEST day of this semester!  It actually started the night before (the night of the 17th) when Janette came to dinner. We made pizza, Isaac brought cinnamon rolls, and we had several people over. I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST   roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...

Going Public

So I was thinking today about how I love to keep up with my friends and family through their blogs. I'm pretty busy with school, so I really don't have time to call everyone who is important to me and talk about their lives. Instead I read their blogs. I write my blog for much the same reason, so that people who care about me can read about my life on their own time. Ever since I started my blog I've had it privatized so that only people who I invite can read my blog. However, as I have made more friends, I've had multiple people be surprised that I have a blog at all, and some have asked to read it. I've always been hesitant to let people read my blog because I don't want to inadvertently offend someone or accidentally share something I'd rather keep private with the whole world. I realized today that that is really silly considering the purpose of my blog, and so I've decided to publicize my blog. I realize that I write about other people on my blog, a...

Hi There

So Caitlin's blog has gotten me thinking. I'm not as creative of a writer, and I'm definitely not a paint artist, but I am away at college and not in as direct contact with my family and friends. I would like to be able to share my life and ideas with those that I love. I can't promise to post every day, or even every week, but I will try. I hope you all enjoy.
