Just because it's SO COOL I have to explain the entire transfer situation. We got transfer calls on Saturday morning. Then, we found out that both Hermana Ellingson and I were being transferred. We realized later that that meant they were going to close our area! :( We were SO SAD!!!! The fun part of the news was that she went to bike and I went to car. This might be familiar to some who have followed my story closely from the beginning. That is exactly what ended up happening to my trainer and me. Then at transfer meeting Hermana Ellingson got transferred to SYLMAR BIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! (which in case you didn't realize is where I got transfered after my 12 Week training.) I got transferred to Arleta Car which is the same district as the YSA Hermanas which is the area (YSA) that my trainer got transferred to. It's almost exactly the same as when my trainer and I got transferred after my training! It made me so happy to find all of the fun similarities and feel like I'd come full circle. :)

So now I'm here in Arleta with Hermana Christensen. We have a car, but we also bike a lot. I LOVE IT!!! It is so good to be in an area with so many Spanish speakers, and to be able to bike. My bike is somehow broken... (Elder Wilson says the back bearing is off), but luckily Elder Harris, my other zone leader, is letting me use his bike until I can get mine fixed.

Anyway, this week getting used to Arleta has been great. I love the area, the ward, and my district. We have some wonderful investigators who are really progressing in the gospel, and really seem to understand the importance of our message. We've also been receiving a lot of support from the ward, and they do such a good job taking care of recent converts.

I think that's all for this week though. I have lot's of pictures to send, and I'll try to have more stories from this area next week.

Love,

Hermana Marin Hardy

Pictures:

1-J (the dad) and J (his son) In Santa Clarita we were teaching J and J as J came back to activity in the church and J (who just turned 8!) as he was preparing to be baptized.

2-R was a young man that we were teaching in Santa Clarita who is going to get baptized soon. He is amazing and reads and prays every day! (Yes Mom, I know my posture is terrible in this picture. It was a sad day to say goodbye...)

3-Our Children! Hermana Ellingson and I spent a lot of time in R's apartment building and there was a crowd of children who were also always there. They always asked us for stickers, and they liked to tell us when so-and-so did this or that. We loved to talk with them, and teach them little things about the gospel and help them to start to be more like Jesus.

Birthday!

So, my birthday was yesterday, and it was quite possibly the best birthday ever , and definitely the BEST day of this semester!  It actually started the night before (the night of the 17th) when Janette came to dinner. We made pizza, Isaac brought cinnamon rolls, and we had several people over. I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST   roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...

Going Public

So I was thinking today about how I love to keep up with my friends and family through their blogs. I'm pretty busy with school, so I really don't have time to call everyone who is important to me and talk about their lives. Instead I read their blogs. I write my blog for much the same reason, so that people who care about me can read about my life on their own time. Ever since I started my blog I've had it privatized so that only people who I invite can read my blog. However, as I have made more friends, I've had multiple people be surprised that I have a blog at all, and some have asked to read it. I've always been hesitant to let people read my blog because I don't want to inadvertently offend someone or accidentally share something I'd rather keep private with the whole world. I realized today that that is really silly considering the purpose of my blog, and so I've decided to publicize my blog. I realize that I write about other people on my blog, a...

Hi There

So Caitlin's blog has gotten me thinking. I'm not as creative of a writer, and I'm definitely not a paint artist, but I am away at college and not in as direct contact with my family and friends. I would like to be able to share my life and ideas with those that I love. I can't promise to post every day, or even every week, but I will try. I hope you all enjoy.
