Buenas,

Monday was a fun day. We had a couple of lessons and got to play flag football with our zone. I only got to play for the first half though because I got injured. Nothing serious, but somehow the side of my face collided with the top of someone else's head and I bit a chunk out of my right cheek on the inside. Surprisingly it didn't really hurt that much, but I had to stop to rinse my mouth out, and it swelled up quite a bit. By today it's almost completely healed.

Tuesday morning Hna Jensen and I went to iHop and bought .56 cent pancakes for breakfast before district meeting. It was their 56th anniversary or something. District meeting after was good, and the rest of the day went well. We had a lesson with E (one of our recent converts) about the priesthood and committed him to wear a white shirt and tie to church on Sunday so that he can eventually bless and pass the sacrament. Then we had dinner with him and Hna M and her husband.

Wednesday we went to the orthodontist so that Hna Jensen could get a new retainer because hers broke. We had to drive all the way to Santa Clarita, but it was worth it to keep her teeth straight during her mission. :) Later that day we had another lesson with O, and it was great. We taught it at the church and had 3 ward missionaries there. We talked about the restoration and committed him to be baptized on the 27th of July!

Thursday we went and picked up Hna Jensen's new retainer and started weekly planning. We also made a cake and took it to correlation to surprise Elder Harris for his birthday.
It was such a good surprise! We had found a Happy Birthday sign in our apartment so we put that up and when he walked in we all shouted "SURPRESA!!" and sang Feliz Cumpleanos.

Friday we had exchanges with the sister training leaders and that was good. Hna Bloomfield came to Arleta with me and we found a new investigator who then committed to be baptized. I'm not sure if she was actually serious, but it always amazes me when people feel the Spirit enough in our lessons to feel the truth even if they later forget or decide to ignore it. We also got a crazy random call from Elder Phillips (fleet coordinator) saying we had to take our car to Santa Clarita and leave it there. We ended up on Bike for the rest of the night and until this morning when the other hermanas are taking us up to pick up our car.

Saturday was another good day. We taught a lesson that morning, exchanged back, finished weekly planning. We also had a great member cena with a family in our ward. It was fun to get to know them and find out that they just finished the classes to prep to go to the temple. We also got to see Z and teach her for the first time since her baptism.

Sunday was a really good day. The hermanas picked us up for church. We taught O the word of wisdom and the law of chastity, and all of our recent converts wore white shirts and ties to church! Then Hna Jensen and I slept out on the balcony.

Love,

Hna Hardy

Birthday!

So, my birthday was yesterday, and it was quite possibly the best birthday ever , and definitely the BEST day of this semester!  It actually started the night before (the night of the 17th) when Janette came to dinner. We made pizza, Isaac brought cinnamon rolls, and we had several people over. I was already happy being able to party with Janette one last time before she went into the MTC . Then after dinner, my roommates surprised me with birthday cake and ice cream. Everyone sang happy birthday, and I was glad I got to celebrate with Janette. Then on the morning of the 18th (my BIRTHDAY ) I woke up and left my room, and this is what I found: streamers hanging from the connecting door, balloons all over the living room, streamers on the ceiling, a monkey hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen, and 20 sticky notes that said 20 different things my roommates love about me. : ) I have the BEST   roommates ever! Sandra also had a few dollar store presents for me, and the best o...

Going Public

So I was thinking today about how I love to keep up with my friends and family through their blogs. I'm pretty busy with school, so I really don't have time to call everyone who is important to me and talk about their lives. Instead I read their blogs. I write my blog for much the same reason, so that people who care about me can read about my life on their own time. Ever since I started my blog I've had it privatized so that only people who I invite can read my blog. However, as I have made more friends, I've had multiple people be surprised that I have a blog at all, and some have asked to read it. I've always been hesitant to let people read my blog because I don't want to inadvertently offend someone or accidentally share something I'd rather keep private with the whole world. I realized today that that is really silly considering the purpose of my blog, and so I've decided to publicize my blog. I realize that I write about other people on my blog, a...

Cibophobia

I have been a picky eater for as long as I can remember. In fact, I am the pickiest person I have ever met. (I've heard of people who were pickier for a while, but not for such an extended period of time.) From as far back as I can remember up until my last year of high school I ate the same things all the time. I took the same thing for lunch every day from kindergarten through high school. My parents didn't understand, but they never tried to force me to eat anything I didn't want to. (Well, except once when I was five or six, and my mom said I couldn't have anything else to eat until I ate a slice of apple. ... I went three days without food and she gave up.) While I have always just said I'm a picky eater, I now believe that I suffer from Cibophobia. Cibophobia is the fear of food. If you'd like, you can read more about it here . Why was my diet so limited? Why did I refuse to try new things? It was because trying new foods, the thought of putting the food...
